We started the PUP program to educate citizens about bacteria and its impact on local waterways. But in the big water-quality picture, there's an even bigger dog. One of the largest contributors to pollution problems the Sewer District is facing is combined sewer overflows. Some combined sewers (designed to carry sewage and stormwater in the same pipe) in Northeast Ohio date back more than a hundred years, and our own Frank Greenland, Director of Watershed Programs, summed it all up recently on a WCPN 90.3 appearance. |
