Storm's just in the early days of his new training regimen: learning new scents, chasing tennis balls, getting adjusted to other pups. Apparently, it's both exhausting and the cutest thing ever.
Storm's family comes from a heritage of protection dogs.
While attending one of his first training classes in December, Storm (left) was reunited with his brother Rico, a protection and security dog working with Cleveland Metroparks' K-9 unit. According to @neorsd's K-9 handler Officer Simon Montgomery, "Storm's grandmother is a German National Protection Dog Champion that was sold for $385,000 years ago. Her name is Taya Vom Ausland." Storm and his training were a donation to the Sewer District in December 2014 for security and community outreach. How does a two-month-old German Shepherd grow from a pup to a protector and educator? We'll follow his journey here. Storm is a new K-9 officer with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. Being certified in explosive detection and emergency recovery, his next 12 months will be filled with training as he makes his way through the program. We'll follow his #PUPpatrol updates on Twitter and Instagram, but his Dog Blog will be a virtual journal of his development. We'll also announce details when Storm will be appearing with our Outreach team. Our PUP Program helps educate residents about pet waste and pollution, and Storm will be an exciting (and awfully cute) addition to our events. |
